Answer:
In my opinion, the transcendentalist ideas are relevant for current high school students.
Explanation:
High school students live in an environment that promotes a certain hopelessness and disagreement with the world in which they live. This is because the chances of success in all elements of human life are increasingly difficult, but even so, students are charged for excellence all the time. This charge is accompanied by the excuse that if students try harder and become more engaged they will be successful in their lives, but they know that none of this is guaranteed. This leaves them unhappy and angry with the real world, promoting a search for transcendental concepts that can bring a certain comfort and peace to the conflicting thoughts that society imposes on these students.
Answer:
I believe there are probably some high school students in today's society who find Transcendentalist beliefs relevant. I know that I would like to have some of the idealism of a transcendentalist. From my understanding, Transcendentalism states that you should be your own individual and separate yourself from regular societal beliefs and ways. "If you maintain a dead church, contribute to a dead Bible-society, vote with a great party either for the government or against it, spread your table like base housekeepers, -- under all these screens I have difficulty to detect the precise man you are. And, of course, so much force is withdrawn from your proper life. But do your work, and I shall know you. Do your work, and you shall reinforce yourself. " (Emerson page 2) Emerson is against what people are calling "hive mind" today. For what seems like forever, religion has been very important to our world. Now teens are becoming more and more likely to explore beliefs separate from what is considered normal or what their family believes.
