WILL GIVE BRAINLIEST!!
Maria looks at the architectural plan of a four-walled room in which the walls meet each other at right angles. The length of one wall in the plan is 13 inches. The length of the diagonal of the floor of the room in the plan is approximately 15.26 inches.

Is the room in the shape of a square? Explain how you determined your answer. Show all your work.

Answer:

its a rectangle

Length of sides of the shape would be 8 & 13,

x=8

Step-by-step explanation:

[tex]x^{2}[/tex]+[tex]13^{2}[/tex]=[tex]15.26^{2}[/tex]

[tex]x^{2}[/tex]=232.86-169

x=[tex]\sqrt{63.87}[/tex]

x=8

Answer:

Late but i'll help

Step-by-step explanation:

1. Is the room in the shape of a square?

No, it is not a square, as all of the sides are not equal.

2.Explain how you determined your answer. Show all your work.

Since we have a rectangle/square, and a diagonal floor, we can make a diagonal line inside the rectangle/square to give us a triangle. Our diagonal line is 15.26 inches, and one of our walls is 13 inches. Our diagonal line can serve as our hypotenuse and our one wall length can serve as one leg. Now, we need to solve for our other leg. Here's how i did it:

The leg we know is A, our unknown length is B, and our hypotenuse is C.

A^2 + B^2 = C^2

13^2 + B^2 = 15.26^2

169 + B^2 = 232.86

232.86 - 169 = 63.86

sqrt of 63.86 = approximately 7.99
