Realist novel is consist of a story that is based on writers's real observation toward the societal condition around them. This enable the writers to provide a deeper information about a certain problem that exist in the society down to the smallest detail. This will make it easier for people to understand the problem and gave their support for reformation.
Photography on the other hand, only provide the viewers with a simple image. The message that the artists conveyed through the image is extremely dependent on the perception of the viewer. This picture won't provide as good of an understanding toward the societal problem like a realist novel could provide.
