Okay, Mariah had 67 blueberries and Lilah had 85. How much more blueberries did Lilah have than Mariah? 85-67 85 - 67 Cross out the 8 and make that a 7. Now cross the 5 out and make that 15. 7 to 15 is 8. That would be 18 more blueberries than Mariah.

Problem using the words "how much more":

I planted 35 different fruit bearing trees in my farm land. Mr Alex decided that  as he has larger amount of Agricultural plot than me, so he decided to plant  75 different trees in his farm land. How much more trees Mr. Alex has planted than me in his farm land?

Solution: Number of trees in my farm land = 35 trees

Number of trees in Mr. Alex Agricultural land = 75 trees

Number of more trees that Mr. Alex has than me= 75 - 35= 40 trees

Draw two agricultural plot by drawing two rectangles. In one rectangle draw   35 small rectangles and in another draw 75 rectangles. In both cases color 35 rectangles. Number of non colored rectangles gives you the result that number of more tree that Mr. Alex has in his agricultural plot than me.
