A conflict is a struggle between opposing forces. A conflict achieves resolution when the struggle ends and the outcome is revealed. What are the two types of literary conflict?
A. Internal and external. Internal conflict occurs within the mind of a character who is torn by competing values or needs. External conflict occurs between a character and an outside force such as another person, society as a whole, nature, or fate.
B. Within and without. Within conflict occurs when a character battles nature. Without conflict occurs when a character resolves a conflict
C. Self and Other. Self-conflict occurs when a character cannot help another character resolve his or her shortcomings. Other conflict occurs when cultures collide and are in disagreement.
