Political parties affect the political system by categorizing people's beliefs. On one end of the spectrum, conservatives believe that government infringes on their rights and things should be up to state and local government. On the other hand, liberals believe that there should be more government and that it does not infringe on our rights, but it can help us. Another reason having separate political parties is good it gives people a way to categorize their views and vote for a person with those views. Lastly, political parties affect the political system is by allowing different people's views to be expressed. In the house and senate, they have both republican and democratic parties in them; this gives them the ability for one side to share their views or bring up issues the other side may not have thought of or brought up.

Functions of political parties :

  • The first and foremost part of the work culture of a political party is to recruit candidates who can represent and exercise the powers on their behalf and work for the good of their people.
  • The next is to nominate more candidates who will work for their party and can prove a helping hand in elections.
  • The candidates nominated then tries to get out the votes by conducting campaigns and become the face of the people who will represent them.
  • Finally, the party in power influences the government, which is our topic too. so, in order to gain control of the government, they need to give the voters a clear electoral choice and also act on it.

Influence of the political party over the government :

  • There are two political parties in The USA, The Democratic and The Republic. Democrats, on one hand, are liberals and on the other hand, the Republicans are conservatives.
  • So,  both the parties influence the government and the public according to their respective ideologies.
  • The Democratic party always prioritizes social responsibilities and the community while The Republic prioritizes a free market and rights of the individuals and both work accordingly.

So, here we can conclude that the influence of the political party over the government varies according to the way and nature of their work.
