We have a different economy system inside of prison because prisoners aren’t allow to take cash and they need some sort of system to help them survive-this was because there are certain things they need or want but they cannot get due to lack of cash. Ramen became the currency because first it can be broken into different pieces to represent different values and second it can be eaten (prisoners aren’t feed the most food and get the most supplies due to lack of fund). It could be replaced with other goods because as long as they fit the same requirements they can be used to trade for other supplies and be used as currency.
