The weakening of the economy was due to the consumerism behavior that was exhibited in the country in the 1920s. The great depression happened and the nation was in a great state of economic downturn.

The middle class that was in the society got to be eliminated. Unemployment, poverty, failure of banks and a fall in the trade of the nation.

The poor were getting worse off. Only the rich in the society happened to be well off.
