Who Was the Best US President?

Each president of the United States of America has left behind a legacy, some more notable than others. Who do you believe was the best American president?

Write a multi-paragraph essay that explains who you believe was the best US president and why. Be sure to support your choice with examples and evidence from your research.

Intro: Hook: American history is rich with successful and important characters, many of which contributed in shaping the United States to be what it is today. Background on the United States and Presidents in general. Bring up Abraham Lincoln, some background about him. Thesis: Abraham Lincoln left the the most notable legacy on America as he won the civil war, abolished slavery, and started a period of needed change in America.

1: Won the civil war. Background on civil war. Why it was important. How can America protect themselves from others if they are fighting with themselves? Winning a war is a big deal. Helped a lot of people by winning this war. Brought people under control. Transition: (A reason for the civil war in the first place was slavery) One of the things that came from his victory was the abolishment of slavery

2; Abolished Slavery. Explain what slavery is and what was going on in America regarding it at the time. The 13th amendment and the emancipation proclamation. He got many slaves freed. Knew it was wrong, so he supported the union and went against the confederacy. He set the stage and started the plan so that more slaves can be freed by future leaders. The figurehead of abolishing slavery. Why slavery is so bad and needed to be abolished in the first place. Discrimination.

3: Needed Change. Path for new leaders. His emancipation proclamation made it so that slavery became more of an important matter to deal with, and thanks to his initial actions to try and abolish slavery and end the union, more people after that, including proceeding presidents, would end up continuing to get completely rid of slavery everywhere. Lincoln winning the civil war meant that African Americans could be freed, and with work and people following after his example, much of the discrimination was rid of. New African American schools as well. More black organizations, and freedom in general. This all leads to a building and growing world for America to become more equal and successful as a country.

Conclusion: Restatement of how he won the civil war, abolished slavery, and started a period of needed change in America. Tie into how such laws are still in place and thanks to Abraham people suffering were being liberated.
