I believed that Thomas Putnam would be fierce because, he had his inheritance taken from him, and that he wanted a large family, but couldn’t receive any of those. I think his anger towards those things would be make him fierce later on in the story. I’m sorry I didn’t add any citations, but I hope this helped!
