You worked for a company as a freelance construction worker. You earned $15,000 for the two months that you worked with them. The next month you received a 1099-MISC for your work. Based on the amount of money that you made, was the company required to withhold taxes? Why or why not?

Respuesta :

No because when you work as a freelancer, you are considered as self-employed. If you were employed by someone, then they would be responsible for withholding part of your taxes. Since you are self-employed, you are responsible for holding all of your tax yourself.

If I am wrong, I am sorry but I believe this is correct.
