The photographer uses lines in both the landscape and the people.  The field and the people are put in a diagnonal line followed by a horizontal line that ends in a diagonal line.  The diagonal lines are effective in creating a focal area because they swiftly carry the viewer's eye into the painting.  The lines indicates a feeling of movement or direction.  Because the objects are placed diagonally, the picture seems like it is in motion. It cause the viewer's eye to move quickly from one end to another, which creates an illusion of width/ depth.
