The cilia present in rotifer's have two main functions.First it helps in locomotion and the second function is it helps in the movement of food particles towards mouth.
What is the function of rotifer's cilia?
Cilia present in rotifer are small hair like structure present outside of eukaryotic cells.
They are responsible for locomotion,either of the cell itself or of liquids present on cell surface.
Other function of cilia in rotifer is to move water relative to the cell in a regular movement of the cilia.
Cilia are distinguished into two types:
1) Motile cilia
2)Non motile cilia
Two types of cilia are distinguished on the basis of microtubules present in the axonemes of their body.
Therefore, the main function of rotifer's cilia is to help in locomotion and and to move food particles towards the mouth.
