If a student had a single peanut before this lab, how many times would a student have to run upstairs in order to burn the energy from a single peanut? (a single peanut has 5 kilocalories or 5000 calories worth of energy)

Respuesta :

If the student has mass 75 kg, and if the stairs are 3 m high, then
work = mgh = 75kg * 9.8m/s² * 3m = 2200 J
so I'd say "one one-hundredth."
Except that I think 5000 cal ≈ 20.95 kJ (not J), and that would change my answer to
"ten times or so".
