The weight of a baby elephant is about 120 kg at birth. Every year his weight increases by 360 kg.

a. Write an algebraic expression to represent his weight in (y) years.


b. Calculate Emilio’s weight after 5 years.

Part A:
The algebraic expression for this equation is written as 120 + 360y = (the elephant's weight)  where y is the number of years.

Part B:
120 + 360(5) = 1920kg
5 replaces y as the number of years.
