1. Subtract 3 to both sides
[tex]2n + 3 - 3 = 53 - 3[/tex]
[tex]2n = 50[/tex]
2. Divide 2 to both sides
[tex] \frac{2n}{2} = \frac{50}{2} [/tex]
[tex]n = 25[/tex]
[tex]2n + 3 - 3 = 53 - 3[/tex]
[tex]2n = 50[/tex]
2. Divide 2 to both sides
[tex] \frac{2n}{2} = \frac{50}{2} [/tex]
[tex]n = 25[/tex]
So what you're trying to do is isolate the variable (get it by itself). So you would look at the symbol in front of the numbee alone (+3) so do the opposite of the given operation (do subtraction). 3-3 is 0. ALWAYS REMEMBER: WHAT YOU DO TO ONE SIDE, YOU DO TO THE OTHER!! Subtract 3 from 53. So you're left with 2n=50. Now the opposite of multiplication is division. So now you divide 2 by 2 which cancels out and you're left with n. Always do what you do on one side to the other so, divide 50 by 2. NOW THE ANSWER IS n= 25 :)
