The following statement which is a TRUE statement about cigarette filters is:

D. Filters do not decrease the amount of chemicals that get into a smoker's lungs.

A cigarette filter is a component of a cigarette that is used to make sure that the contents of a cigarette are not directly inhaled by a smoker.

However, that is as far as their protection go as they do not reduce the amount of chemicals which a smoker inhales into their lungs as the life span of an active smoker is shorter than a non smoker.

Therefore, the correct answer is option D
