Mongolia before the rise of Genghis Khan
Mongols were always characterized by scattered groups of warriors from warring tribes and tribes who were allies. Before Genghis Khan came along, none of them were able to unite together and become a mighty enough force that would be able to challenge the Chinese Empire in the South.
