A high school service club is collecting
canned food for a local charity. On day 1,
the club members start the drive with 325
cans. From day 2 until the end of the food
drive students bring in 118 cans each day.
How many cans will the club have at the
end of the 9th day of the canned food
drive?

We are looking for he total number of cans so:

day 1= 325 cans

day 2-9 = 944 (118 cans each day)...

118*8 = 944

therefore total number of cans =

day 1 + days 2-9

= 325+944

=1269
