Hello! Capillary action is the ability of liquids to move upward or downward without the help of gravity through small spaces. Different materials affect capillary action: the more absorbent a material is, the better the capillary action. One example is a paper towel. When you put one side of a paper towel in water, notice how the water moves to the other regions of the paper towel that were not exposed directly to the water. It can even move upward! Plants have the ability of capillary action, as the water from the roots are absorbed and move up to the plant where water is needed. Hope this helps! :)
