There are 11 members of the research team and each is allotted 5 gallons of water per day for cooking and drinking. Find a formula for f(t), the amount of fresh water left on the island after t days has elapsed.

So 11 members will drink [tex]11*5t=55t[/tex] gallons

If the island starts with 800 gallons and [tex]55t[/tex] are removed, then
[tex]f(t)=800-55t[/tex]
