Almost no population actually reaches biotic potential instead it reaches its carrying capacity, carrying capacity is the largest number of individuals of one species that an ecosystem can support over time. Limiting factors determine the carrying capacity for an area. If there weren’t any limiting factors in an ecosystem, populations would keep growing.
