Pythagorean
The perimeter of a rectangular football field is 250 meters. The area of the football field is 2,500
square meters. If the field is cut diagonally into two halves, what is the area of each triangle?
(Round to the nearest whole meter)

Respuesta :

1250m²

Rectangle

perimeter=2(L+B)

2(L+B)=250.....equ(1)

Area= L×B

L×B=2500......equ(2)

Solving simultaneously by direct substitution

from equ (1) L=125-B

substituting it's value into equ (2) gives that (125-B)B=2500

125B-B²=2500

solving quadratically gives B1= 100m B2=25m

substituting it's value in equ (1) gives L1= 25m L2=100m

when the rectangular field is cut diagonally into two halves then we have two right angled triangle

area of a triangle=½B×H=½L×B

then we have ½×100×25= 1250m² for each triangle.
