Answer:

44 cm²

Step-by-step explanation:

To find the area of a compound figure like this, we can divide the shape into various rectangles and compute the areas of them separately before adding them together.

There are several ways to divide this shape, but for this we will section the shape into a 3×3 square, 4×2 rectangle, and a 3×9 rectangle.

To find the areas of them, multiple the length by the width.

For the 3×3 square at the top right-

[tex]A=3\cdot 3[/tex]

[tex]A=9[/tex]

The square is 9 cm².

For the 4×2 rectangle at the top left-

[tex]A=4\cdot 2[/tex]

[tex]A=8[/tex]

The rectangle is 8 cm².

For the 3×9 rectangle at the bottom-

[tex]A=3\cdot 9[/tex]

[tex]A=27[/tex]

The rectangle is 27 cm².

Now that we have the areas of each individual piece of the figure, we can add them together to find the total area of the shape.

[tex]A=9+8+27[/tex]

[tex]A=44[/tex]

The area of the figure is 44 cm².

I hope this helps ^^ Good luck :)

Sry it’s not neat I had to draw it on my phone but the answer is 44 because 3x3=9 and 4x2=8 and 9x3=27. So 9+8=17 and 17+27=44cm
