The most challenging thing is to get the right amount of light. Too much is bad too little is bad. To reduce this challenge, you can buy some higher end equipment and (if you are taking the picture outside), find out when is the right time a day to go outside and take the photo.
White reflects light better than black does. If you are taking a picture of something that is a bright color, it will shine with more light than something that is dark. Like for example, black or red don't reflect light as much as lime green does.
