English has three main tenses and four forms of each.

The main tenses in English are past, present and future, which have the simple, perfect, perfect progressive and progressive forms.

An example of each form would be:

  1. Simple past: She sang.
  2. Simple present: She sings.
  3. Simple future: She will sing.
  1. Past Perfect: She had sung.
  2. Present Perfect: She has sung.
  3. Future Perfect: She will have sung.
  1. Past Perfect Progressive:  She had been singing.
  2. Present Perfect Progressive: She has been singing.
  3. Future Perfect Progressive: She will have been singing.
  1. Progressive past: She was singing
  2. Progressive present: She is singing.
  3. Future progressive: She will be singing.
