Poets Hilaire Belloc and Heinrich Hoffmann use exaggeration and humor to convince readers to follow their advice. Do you think their pieces are more or less effective than an essay like Joseph Addison’s or a letter like Robert E. Lee’s? Why?

I haven't read the essay or letter, but in my experience, if you use exaggeration and humor to convince someone to follow their advice they may not take it because it could sound sarcastic. Now, if someone tried to convince someone with something serious and sophisticated they would take it more seriously. I hope this helped you. (:
