Hey there! Hello!

For this problem, all you need to do is isolate your x term to see what it equals. I first multiplied the 0.5 by the left and right sides, since you have to do whatever you do on one side on the other. This cancels out 0.5 on the bottom left and makes the right side equal 43.5. (Remember when you're trying to cancel out something in a fraction, you must multiply the fraction by the bottom number, not the top).

Then, I added 24 to the left and right sides to cancel –24 on the left and make the right side equal 67.5. Then, I divided everything by 9 to fully isolate x and reveal that it equals 7.5.

These are the steps for this problem, but written out:

[tex](\frac{9x-24}{0.5})0.5=(87)*0.5[/tex]
[tex]9x-24=43.5[/tex]
[tex](9x-24)+24=43.5+24[/tex]
[tex]9x=67.5[/tex]
[tex]9x/9=67.5/9[/tex]
[tex]x=7.5[/tex]

If you want to check your problem, all you need to do is plug 7.5 into x in your original problem. You should get 87 as your final answer.

Hope this helped you out! Feel free to ask me any additional questions you may have. :-)
