Research the cell theory. What does the cell theory propose? Describe a hypothetical observation for each part of the cell theory that would cause it to change. Why have these parts remained unchanged as of today?

Respuesta :

The cell theory proposes that all living organisms are made up of cells, who in turn come from other cells, as well as that cells are responsible for the structure and organization of living things.

The cell theory is widely accepted as fact and is taught in science classes throughout the world. The theory states that:

  • All living things are comprised of cells
  • Cells make up our structure and organization
  • Cells are what create other cells by multiplying.

As far as evidence can show us, all of this is true, any attempt to disprove this theory has not been successful, which is why the parts of this theory remain unchanged.

A hypothetical observation that may cause this theory to change would be to observe a virus with the ability to metabolize, grow, react to stimuli and reproduce without aid. These are what categorize a living thing, since viruses cannot do any of this without a host cell to inhabit, they are non-living. Since viruses are not cells, if they were to be observed doing these things, they would be considered living creatures and thus the cell theory would have to change.
