None of these really do. The associative property is about regrouping things being added, such as
(3+5)+7 = 3+(5+7)
Someone could I guess argue the “4+2y+7x+8” used it, by dropping the parentheses and thereby changing the grouping to just be the standard left-to-right that the order of operations dictates. But that’s a pretty lame answer if that’s what the person is going for.
