They are more useful to agricultural villagers because hunter-gatherers were always on the move and couldnt bring lots of things with them because of this, so that would have made it difficult for them to move animals around with them whereas the villagers were settled and didnt have to move around for food because they grew the plants and raised the animals.
Agricultural villagers because they stayed in the same place for long period while hunter and gathers would switch from animal to animal. Domestic animals were convenient because they could be raised and breed in the village and used continuously.
