To factorise a quadratic we first need to think of factors of the number term (The 6).

Factors of 6 are 1 & 6 and 2 & 3.

What combination of addition or subtraction of these factor pairs will produce the second number (which is positive 1x)

3 minus 2 will give us 1, so we will use this pair

Throw up your brackets with the x's and the number pair we chose

(x  2) (x  3)

We chose 3 minus 2

So in our brackets we will put positive 3, negative 2
