First I would find exactly how much each event would cost. After I would compare the prices so that I can narrow out the events that go over my budget. For a board of directors I would need to pay attention to resumes, former work and exactly who I choose to direct the theatre. Also, it would be a good idea to focus on what is currently in seasonal trend, such as pumpkins and turkeys (this is an example, as we are in the fall season now).
Always double check where the money goes to, like who gets paid how much, and make sure that nobody gets a too low allowance. Evaluate the payments and make sure you don't get to many cast members, otherwise the price could go over budget.
