I think Alma wrote down the lecture verbatim or word-for-word. This is a note taking mistake because she did not take note of important points. She most likely transcribed the whole lecture. She was not able to properly give attention to what the speaker is trying to convey because she was busy jotting down everything the speaker said without knowing the whole context.
This is a process of hearing but not listening. She just heard the words but did not fully understand the thought of message behind those words. She needs to read through her pages to fully understand the speaker's.
In note taking, you simply jot down keywords or phrases that you understand and when you review your notes even if it is only a few phrases, you will immediately know what the whole thing is all about.
