Cyril and Methodius are two monks who took Christianity to Russia in the 800's. These missionaries introduced Cyrillic alphabet, which is also called Glagolitic alphabet. This was the first alphabet that was used to transcribe old church slavonic. This alphabet is still in used in Russia today.
