Republicans split their votes between William Howard Taft and Theodore Roosevelt, and therefore the Democratic candidate, Woodrow Wilson, won the election of 1912.
Theodore Roosevelt had split from the Republican party and made a third party called the Bull Moose party. This then divided Republicans on who they should vote for and Woodrow Wilson won easily.
