looking on what is happening in our society today considering the campaign of the government regarding equal rights of people, what do you think could be the reason why some people cannot avoid to discriminate on other members of the society explain your answer

One reason could be jealousy.Here is my reasoning some people are just sad that they are not on the top of the hierarchy so they try to bring them down instead of working hard and using that sadness and anger to take themselves to the top.They try to bring others down but my question is why do people tear each other down instead of building each other up and supporting each other?
