There are different kinds of laws. The viewpoint that is conveyed by Sophocles through the following lines spoken by Antigone to Creon regarding his decree that she disobeyed is that religious law is above or greater than man's law.

  • In the text, we can see Creon emphasizes on the unwritten laws of gods that know not change. She is trying too acknowledge the fact that the laws of the gods are greater than man's law and cannot be altered for any thing at all.

The Antigone is known too  be a tragedy play that was written by the ancient Greek playwright called Sophocles. It was known to be written around 442 BCE.

The play centers around Antigone’s burial of her brother Polynices (Polyneices), after defying the laws of Creon and the state, and the outcomes  of her act of civil disobedience.
