An essay is a piece of writing that gives a reader an education or an idea about a particular topic.

There are 4 types of essay and they are, the argumentative, expository, the narrative and the descriptive.

For this, we are making an argument and therefore:

  • The topic sentence should be catchy and arguable to be able to grasp the reader's attention.

  • Supporting sentence 1 should be able to make an introduction of what your argument is and use strong details which is concise and your main point.

  • Supporting sentence 2 should include a different idea and piece of evidence citing relevant sources.

  • Supporting sentence 3 should address your opposing point and disprove them with your reason why you disagree.

  • The conclusion sentence must reinstate your topic sentence and summarize all arguments made in the paragraph body.

Therefore, argumentative essays should make definitions, state a fact, include a value, list causes and effects and state important policy.
