It is widely known that bills take time and undergo a lot of processes before they become laws.

      However, the processes are very necessary because care has to be taken in order to avoid future problems attributed to such a law.

     

     Some bills however do not usually become laws either because majority of the law makers  do not to see the usefulness of such a bill or that the executive arm of government which is mandated to give assent to bills to make them laws declines such a bill.

Processes of Bills Becoming Laws.

  • The bill is drafted.
  • The bill is introduced.
  • The bill goes to committee.
  • Subcommittee review of the bill.
  • Committee mark up of the bill.
  • Voting by the full chamber on the bill.
  • Referral of the bill to the other chamber.
  • The bill goes to the president
