The communication barriers existed between Anita and Mr. Dortmann is cultural  barrier as both belongs to different countries.

  • Anita is said to do the right thing to overcome the barriers as she did a research and found out that business executives in Germany do value respect for  authority and structure and they do greet each other formally.

Cultural differences is known to be one that is  caused  by a lot of behavioral and personality differences such as body language, gestures, mindsets, communication, etc.

They tend to lead to miscommunication and as such, the way Anita handle the issue was right.
