Forty years later, the fall of Saigon remains a pivotal and emotional event to many. You will now conduct research to find two different representations of this historical event. First, you will find an image connected to the fall of Saigon. Then, you will find a second source of your choosing that represents the same topic (another image, a news article, etc.).

After selecting and reviewing both of your sources, you will write a paragraph addressing the following items:

Explain why you selected the image and the secondary source as good representations of the fall of Saigon. Why did you feel that each of the sources connected well to this tragedy?
Label each reference to the sources with proper citation: any direct quotations or references should be following by the last name of the artist or author and the year of publication, in parentheses. Example: (Jones 2015).

On April 30th, 1975 the fall of Saigon took place marking the end of the Vietnam war through the evacuation of all American military along with thousands of civilians. The evacuation was through an operation known as Operation Frequent Wind which became the largest helicopter evacuation in history. During this time communist forces were advancing from the North to capture Saigon. Over 1,000 American civilians and over 7,000 South Vietnamese refugees were flown out of Saigon in less than 18 hours (Butler, 1985). The picture is chosen as it clearly illustrates thousands of Vietnamese civilians and American soldiers fighting for space on the helicopter.
