Hello.

We have:

  • A point that the line passes through
  • The slope of the line

Plug the values into the Point-Slope Formula:

[tex]\mathrm{y-y_1=m(x-x_1)}[/tex]

[tex]\mathrm{y-38=6(x-5)}[/tex]

[tex]\mathrm{y-38=6x-30}[/tex]

[tex]\mathrm{y=6x-30+38}[/tex]

[tex]\Large\boxed{\sf{ \ y=6x+8}}[/tex]

I hope it helps.

Have a nice day.

Hi Robert; m=-6; (-5,-8) We can put this into point slope
format of y=mx+b initially. y = -6x + b Using (-5, -8) as
(×, y) solve for b -8 = -6(-5)
