I'm going to try to explain this the best I can. I have read the Grapes of Wrath an interesting novel by John Steinbeck which was about this event. Although it happened in 1935, this was in fact the same storm that originated from the 1934 one. The Dust Bowl was the name of this storm and many of the effected cities were hit by severe winds and crops/livestocks were dying with due to this torrential event. It was definitely a major event because the farmers had lost everything and they couldn't supply to the markets as well as their families. This information could be found further online, or even in the book I read, The Grapes of Wrath.
