Superposition of Waves ;

Sketch two wave pulses whose interference produces a pulse with an amplitude greater than either of the individual waves.

help!!!

Respuesta :

The two individual waves interfere to create the pulse with greater amplitude.

What is wave interference?

Wave interference is the phenomenon that occurs when two waves meet moving toward or opposite to each other along the same medium.

The interference of waves gives the net effect of the two individual waves.

Consider two pulses of the same amplitude traveling in different directions along the same medium. Each sine wave displaced upward 1 unit at its crest.  As the sine pulses move towards each other, there will be a moment in time when they are completely overlapped. The resulting shape of the medium would be a sine pulse of amplitude of 2 units.

Hence, the two individual waves interfere to create the pulse with greater amplitude.
