Clouds are formed when there is the creation of liquid water droplets from the conversion of water vapor.

What is a Cloud?

This refers to the condensed mass of vapor that floats into the atmosphere, very high off the ground, that causes rainfall.

Hence, we can see that Altocumulus is formed when there is the convection of the unstable layer aloft which usually leads to the lifting of air for a cold front.

The conditions in which the altocumulus clouds form is when the water droplets get to a higher altitude and become condensed and this typically leads to thunderstorms later in the day.
