The political aspect of medieval Japanese society is very different from the US politics that we know of. In Japanese politics they use a code of conduct that goes by the name Bushido, meaning "way of the warrior-knight". Divided into clans (families: blood/marriage). The social pyramid of Medieval Japan was: emperor, Shogun/Daimyo/Vassals, Samurai Warriors, Peasants/Artisans. Land=wealth. Women in japan had few freedoms: expected to care for their children, cook, and sometimes farm and obey the males (Even their own sons!). Marriages were arranged.   Hope this helps
