The excerpt is from the story that was written by Morrison Toni. This story tells us of the slavery that was faced and the fact that the woman a blind person was faced with a lot of people that saw her as a fraud.
This story is trying to talk about the neighborhood that the woman lived and how often she was tested by the people around here because they were bent on finding out if she was truly blind or was pretending. One of this was in the way they brought a bird to her and asked to know if it was living or dead.
The woman although she was blind and could not really do the things that they asked of her, she was able to sense the motive that the young people came to her with.
