The correct answer is A) A boost of encouragemment to the secession movement.
John Brown's Raid on Harper Ferry was supposed to result in a massive uprising of slaves and abolitionist who would help to free other slaves. This raid was unsuccessful, however it made Southern states realize that the secessionist movement may be justified. Southern slave owners worried that instances of violence like this may continue to occur if they remain part of the United States. This, along with many other factors (like Lincoln becoming president), ultimately resulted in the secession of Southern states and the development of the Confederate States of America.
