Three girls are selling cases of corn to earn money for a band trip. So far, Emily sold 2 3/4 cases, Brenda sold 4 1/4 cases and Shannon sold 3 1/2 cases. How many cases of popcorn have the girls sold in all? The girls will need to sell a total of 15 cases in order to have enough for trip. They all want to sell an equal amount of the remaining cases or its parts.

They will not be able to go on the trip. They only sold 10 2/4. Hope this helps!
So first you need to find a common denominator. A number that all of the denominators go into is 4. Then you add up the numerators and whole numbers. So the answer to this problem would be... 10 1/4 because... 4,4 and 2 all go into 4 so 4 is the common denominator. 1/4 + 3/4 + 1/4= 5/4 = 1 1/4. Plus the whole numbers adds up to 10 1/4
